Duties and Responsibilities

THE POSITION

We are looking to hire an experienced Technical Sales Engineer II with a background in parcel sortation, material handling, conveyor systems, or similar technical equipment manufacturing to work at our Fort Worth, TX Headquarters. This position requires a self-driven individual responsible for the daily management of multiple technical tasks in a rapid paced manufacturing environment. Responsible for gathering customer information and providing designed solutions for end-user sortation operations. Tasks include gathering operational requirements, facility dimensions, desired parcel/package throughputs, dimension and weight of parcels to be sorted and providing recommendations for our automated solutions. The Technical Sales Support Engineer is responsible for collaborating with other NPI departments including Sr Management, Project Management. Engineering, Installation, and Manufacturing.

Experience in CAD design required. This person will create price quotes, system drawings, and proposals  with expert level attention to detail.

 

 

EXPERIENCE AND RESPONSIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Communicating with various inside salespersons and the customer to identify, understand, and prepare multiple, complex project price quotes, system 2-D drawings, and responses to RFPs, working closely with cross-functional teams and resources to deliver accurate and quality proposals within established timeframes.
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions to sales team and customers throughout quote preparation.
  • Works with customers and internal resources to define specific requirements for each project.
  • Possess excellent customer communication skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of automation systems and designs.
  • Understanding Capex budgets, ROI calculations, as well as competitive market pricing.
  • Develop proposals that include technical and functional descriptions. Present proposals to sales team or customer.
  • Follow up on all proposals and remain proactive in providing status updates to sales team and key management.
  • Identifies and applies best practices and needed process improvements. Establishes efficiencies in program and project design where possible. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Monitors project execution to deliver incremental business value.
  • Maintains relationships with sales team and customer needs for hardware, scope, solution, and software to fulfill critical business objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field; OR in the alternative, 5+ years of work experience in similar role;
  • 5+ years of experience preparing quotes and 2-D system drawings in a rapid paced technical position.
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience including Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project
  • Ability to use MRP system to download BOM’s reports, etc.
  • Prior training and experience of CAD required.
  • Knowledge of warehousing, automation, and engineered solutions space.
  • Work in the office Mon-Fri from 8:00a – 5:00p.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10%.
  • Flexible to work weekends and/or additional hours as required to meet project deadlines.
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Clear and concise verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions independently.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous technical sales role experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical system knowledge of automated equipment including conveyors, sorters, BCR cameras, dimensioners, in-motion scales, product tippers, etc.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Capable of lifting a minimum of 20 pounds from ground level to chest level
  • Unimpaired speech, hearing and sight (continuous)
  • Postural changes such as sitting, reaching, climbing, standing, walking and lifting intermittently
  • Standing and walking on concrete
