Xtreme Manufacturing in Henderson, Nevada, is seeking a Laser Operator to join our team!
The Laser Operator will be responsible for:
- Operating, troubleshooting, and servicing all laser cutting equipment, to manufacture parts for Xtreme Manufacturing & Snorkel.
- Effectively manage the laser cutting process and activities, that produce prefabrication parts.
- Ensures the accuracy of raw material inventories.
- Maintains quality level requirements.
- Meets and/or exceeds the production plan supplied by the Henderson facility forecast.
- Candidates should have experience with BLM tube laser and BLM tube bender machinery.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Operations
- Operates multiple quantities and types of laser machine to manufacture parts.
- Ensures the “On-Time” completion of scheduled work and projects.
- Maintains the consumables inventories for all laser machines.
- Reviews Manufacturing Orders (MOs) for work instructions, operation assignments, and specifications.
- Competently sets up, operates, and maintains all CNC laser cutting equipment to produce parts using setup instructions, shop traveler packages and prints.
- Enters machine settings for laser cutting operations ensuring that correct lens, nozzles, assist gases and laser heads are in place.
- Uses inspections to ensure the proper setup and alignment of lasers and performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
- Loads laser programs on the computer and modifies them as needed.
- Optimizes equipment performance and part yield.
- Efficiently operates multiple CNC laser cutting machines simultaneously as required.
- Produces the required quantity of parts within established cycle times, specifications, and tolerances.
- Competently charts and records machine performance, and OEE metrics.
- Observes levels of assist gases and change tanks as required.
- Unloads parts following the cutting cycle.
- Proficiently utilizes hand tools, and abrasives to deburr parts and place parts on skid.
- Prepares shop traveler and print document packages and attaches them to part skids.
- Maintains a record of laser head, gases & necessary items to run machine. Notifies team lead to order more tools to maintain the inventory.
Material Management
- Effectively supports raw material inventory management.
- Prepares raw materials to ensure efficient, high-quality laser cutting.
- Safely and efficiently loads and unloads raw materials by safely operating material handling equipment, cranes and rigging.
- Manage weekly material selection and automated material loading equipment.
- Prepare materials (descale and oxidation removal) prior to placement in the automated material loading equipment.
- Cycle counts and record remnant material inventory.
- Utilize the approved inventory management organization standards to maintain the raw material inventory.
Quality Management
- Understand and fully execute all quality documentation requirements and processes.
- Perform all QA and QC measuring and documenting tasks for all laser cut parts.
- Ensure that cut quality is at or above standard.
- Using attention to detail, adhere to all standards of quality.
- Read and understand blueprints, mechanical drawings, work instructions and SOPs.
- Fully comprehends the purpose of all quality documents and complies with their standards for use.
- Accurately reads and interprets blueprints (imperial and metric), and accurately uses all correct measuring instruments.
- Inspects and measures completed production units to identify defects caused by equipment setup.
- Measures finished parts with correct measuring instruments and/or fixtures, to ensure parts comply with fit, function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
- Complies with NCMR and Deviation documentation and reporting standards to record errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
Maintenance Management
- Chart machine performance and administers routine maintenance.
- Possess knowledge and the ability to use tools that optimize laser equipment performance.
- Monitor machine operations and performance, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Addresses machine malfunctions in an efficient and expedited manner.
- Perform all required machine TPM on the laser machine.
- Utilizes appropriate tools to administer routine maintenance and machine adjustments.
- Monitors machine for proper operation, performs assigned PM’s, PdM’s, cleans fume extractor, shuttle and unloading table as necessary.
- Performs all required machine TPM on all CNC laser cutting equipment and reports all unusual conditions to the group lead and/or maintenance lead.
Safety Management
- Maintains work areas in a neat and orderly manner to minimize unsafe conditions and maximize efficiency.
- Utilizes safe working habits so as not to endanger self, others, equipment, or property.
- Conforms completely with all company and OEM safety standards and protocols for work tasks, equipment operation and maintenance.
- Consistently applies all elements of housekeeping and safe work standards to eliminate risk and injury to self, others, equipment, and/or property.
- Uses approved disposal standards for removing process debris and skeletons.

- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to inspect equipment to determine if repairs needed.
- Good vision to inspect work.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform described duties and inspections.
