Mortgage Underwriter

THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

• Underwrite, Approve, and Deny loans which are submitted for approval by LO/Processor Team.
• Liaison between FUB and Government Entities such as HUD and VA
• Provide training and support to processors and LO's
• Participates in job specific training, various bank training programs, and complies with BSA, AML and all bank policies and procedures as required.

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

• 2+ years of mortgage lending/underwriting experience
• HUD Single Family Direct Endorsement (DE) Approval
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field (Preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of mortgage origination process
• Knowledge of Secondary and Agency Underwriting Rules and Guidelines
• Excellent customer service skills
• Attentive and able to retain information
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in mortgage software applications such as origination software, DU/LPA, and other vendor software
• Proficient in Microsoft applications
• Self-starter and able to work independently
