Position Summary:  Directs production teams to achieve daily, weekly, monthly, and annual production goals by effectively utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system including advanced planning and scheduling (APS) database and production scheduler. In collaboration with planning, inventory control, supply chain, machine shop and other resources, drives on-time completion.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively plans and leads activities of production teams to drive productivity to achieve quantity, quality and on-time goals.
  • Follows production planning order priorities and elevates scheduling issues to Production Manager
  • Uses Factory Pulse and other technology resources as required to ensure accurate data is maintained.
  • Controls flow of materials to fulfill production and quality requirements on the production floor
  • Collaborates with direction of Production Manager to accommodate expedited orders to achieve required ship dates.
  • Responsible for requesting necessary materials for open jobs through the computerized system
  • Enter all non-conforming material information into the system to assist the quality department with tracking quality concerns.
  • Answers Andon lights in a prompt and timely manner to limit Production down time.
  • Update performance metrics and lead Gemba Board meetings on a daily basis
  • Builds team member capabilities with a culture of cross-training, motivating, mentoring, evaluating, and recognizing contributions.
  • Holds team members accountable to all performance requirements, providing coaching under the direction of the Production Manager
  • Creates and maintains a monthly 5s schedule.
  • Adheres to all labeling and documentation requirements.
  • The lead will fill in for team members when they are out for the day or away from the line.
  • Ensures accurate and timely accounting for time and attendance of all team members.
  • Interviews and assists in hiring process and performance reviews for contract labor and production team members.
  • Promotes a safe work environment for team and ensures safety rules are followed.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement to reduce waste and applies LEAN concepts to daily operations. 
  • Collaborate with Lean Process Team to implement line improvements.
  • Effectively implement production changes for existing or new products.
  • Must ensure that they are trained in 3 different Work Centers to ensure coverage in the event other leads are out.
  • The Production Group Lead will cover some responsibilities for the Manager of Production when they are scheduled out for the day – these duties include: attending daily operations meeting and collaborating with Planning to manage expedite orders.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with ERP software; preferably Syteline APS Infinite and Finite.
  • Strong production team leadership skills.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Excel.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience if advancement from within Company, 3+ years of manufacturing experience if recruited from outside Company.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing experience in a leadership role.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand and walk frequently.
  • Able to speak and hear.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Able to sit occasionally.
  • Able to use a computer keyboard.
