The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with meal preparation, service, and clean-up in a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility. The Dietary Aide ensures that residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. This role supports the dietary team in delivering nutritious and appealing meals to enhance the overall well-being of residents.
Key Responsibilities:

Meal Preparation and Service:
- Assist in preparing and serving meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure that food is served at the appropriate temperature and presented attractively.
- Prepare food trays, set up dining areas, and deliver meals to residents or patients in a timely manner.
- Assist residents who require help with eating or meal preparation.

Dietary Compliance:
- Follow specific dietary restrictions and guidelines for residents with special needs, such as low-sodium, diabetic, or gluten-free diets.
- Work closely with dietary staff to ensure that all meals meet residents’ nutritional requirements.
- Ensure that all meals are prepared according to individual resident care plans.

Sanitation and Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining area by following food safety regulations.
- Clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment after meal service.
- Ensure that food storage areas are organized and cleaned, following proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Dispose of food waste and other materials in accordance with facility policies and sanitation guidelines.

Inventory and Supplies:
- Assist with inventory management by helping to stock kitchen supplies and monitoring food and equipment levels.
- Inform supervisors when supplies need to be replenished or when equipment requires maintenance.

- Provide friendly and respectful customer service to residents, patients, and families.
- Communicate with residents about their meal preferences and address any concerns regarding meal service.
- Ensure that residents have access to water and snacks between meals, as needed.
