Role Overview
The Finance Technician is responsible for clerical and record-keeping functions within the Finance Department. The role requires the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and interact with the public in a tactful, pleasant, and courteous manner. A high level of confidentiality is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Â
- Work directly with the public daily, collecting payments in person or via telephone.
- Perform processing and data entry of departmental monies, taxes, and miscellaneous receipts.
- Prepare miscellaneous departmental billings.
- Transcribe and type letters, memoranda, reports, tabulations, and other materials.
- Sort and file correspondence, checks, vouchers, etc., numerically, alphabetically, or by other prescribed methods.
- Assist in the maintenance of records and files.
- Assist the public or other governmental agencies by checking data records and files for requested information.

Minimum Requirements:

- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and practices and technologies as applied to an accounting environment.
- Knowledge of local government operations, tax law, and financial records management.
- Seasoned problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects/issues and take ownership of work.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and consultative skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate key objectives necessary to achieve organizational goals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong analytical, oral communication, and writing abilities.

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
