Position Summary:
The Fleet Maintenance Technician performs safe, quality preventative maintenance and repairs on all company vehicles and equipment including diesel and gas engines, and propane and electric forklifts. Our growing fleet includes tractors, trailers, and 32,000 lb medium duty delivery vehicles. This individual will work with an experienced mechanic to continue to gain progressive ability and experience in performing maintenance and repairs and learn to recognize potential problems or mechanical failures and safety violations.
We are seeking a positive, strong team player who is a self motivated problem solver, eager to grow and develop skills, possessing a high degree of integrity. This position requires an individual to be a quick study and learn on the job.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment in accordance to company and DOT standards
- Diagnose mechanical problems and make quality safe repairs on assigned fleet and perform daily scheduled and unscheduled repairs
- Perform safe and timely road calls on disabled vehicles
- Maintain all repair records and documentation to DOT compliance
- Maintain a neat and clean work environment and return all tools and equipment to designated areas daily
- Basic computer skills and ability to navigate websites, forums, and parts sites
- Identify and order necessary replacement parts
- Read, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical schematics
- Monitor daily pre and post trip DOT records making repairs as needed
- Report and identify vehicle and equipment damage to supervisor immediately
- Follow all company policies, procedures and DOT and OSHA related compliance and laws
- Maintain shop cleanliness and safety standards according to Company GMP’s and OSHA standards
- Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction to support a good working relationship with all departments
- Foster and maintain strong communication and relationships with all drivers and their supervisors
- Perform daily work duties as assigned and fill out daily activity sheets as required
- Follow-up on all unfinished work details that need to be completed
