Qualifications
The ideal Senior Accountant at APCH is a mission-aligned professional with strong ethics, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to excellence in nonprofit financial management. The Senior Accountant will also help ensure compliance with GAAP, maintain strong internal controls, and support cross-departmental collaboration to enhance financial systems and reporting. Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- Four years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience with nonprofit accounting (contract/grant accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, audit, etc.)
Technical and Performance Skills
- Proficiency with the ERP accounting software SAGE Intacct highly required
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency with Salesforce highly recommended
- Proficiency in Google Suite
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to exercise sound independent judgment while meeting deadlines.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls in nonprofit accounting
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Clear, collaborative communicator with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of accounting principles in Government Accounting with audit and reporting requirements for Federal, State, and local governments grants
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment typical of a youth center.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and use hands/vision for computer work.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
