Description

  • Inspect a variety of equipment for signs of damage or evidence of electrical or mechanical failure and effectively communicate findings to the lead winder or shop manager.
  • Perform company-specified electrical and core loss tests, with assistance from the lead winder or shop manager as needed.
  • Record and/or illustrate all relevant data regarding the unit’s characteristics, including existing coil, wedge, filler, and winding dimensions, on company data sheets. With guidance as needed, identify and diagram “as-found” winding connection data for both form coil and random coil windings.
  • Dismantle or strip damaged and burned-out windings.
  • Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden structural damage or unusual conditions.
  • Insert form and random wound coils into rotor or stator cores, and layout and braze winding connections, performing both tasks with limited assistance from the lead winder.
  • Apply correct insulating techniques and requirements during rewinding, with guidance from the lead winder as needed.
  • Test rewound equipment according to standards and accurately document the results.
  • Complete all required job paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend instructions in written or spoken in English.
  • Must be reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Must have basic hand tools applicable to your trade with bag or tote.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, tech manuals and work specifications for various types of machinery and/or electrical systems.
  • Must be able to wear applicable PPE (Hard hat, safety goggles, gloves, steel toes shoes, ear protection)

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Desired Education and Experience: 

  • Education Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferred Minimum: Trade School, Apprenticeship, or Higher Education
  • Minimum Relevant Experience: 5 year
    Preferred Relevant Experience: 10+ years.
  • Basic computer skills preferred

Other Requirements:

 
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be eligible to obtain DBIDs.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.

Trade Class Designation:

3rd Class Tradesperson

Performs a variety of duties with a basic knowledge and understanding of their respective trade. The position generally requires daily supervision and typically requires at least 1-3 years of relevant experience.

2nd Class Tradesperson

Performs a wide variety of duties with an advanced knowledge and understanding of their respective trade. The position generally requires moderate supervision and typically requires at least 4-7 years of relevant experience.

1st Class Tradesperson

Performs a wide variety of duties at an advanced or expert level. A 1st Class tradesperson understands theory, operation, and advanced concepts within their respective trade. The position generally requires little or no supervision and typically requires at least 7-10 years of relevant experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools and supplies and/or exert 50 lbs.; to concurrently manipulate multiple controls and machinery; to work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions, to wear and work in personnel protective equipment.
