Do you have the skills?
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a trade or technical program in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in general facilities maintenance or related trades work.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and apply technical skills across multiple building systems.
- Proven ability to organize work, set priorities, and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying maintenance issues and determining practical solutions.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional and courteous communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and vendors.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and maintaining a high standard of facility presentation.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities, respond to emergencies, and assist during off-hours or special events as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance and grounds equipment safely
Work Schedule:
Work hours are specific to the requirements of this position and can include days, evenings, and weekends as scheduled by their supervisor to best support students. Working extended hours required as needed. Must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling responsibilities and meeting the Institution’s needs. Although Unity Environmental University employees are generally scheduled to work at their specifically assigned locations, there are times when travel is necessary, and employees are required from time to time to attend events, meetings, or work temporary assignments at any Unity Environmental University location.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job is regularly required to sit, stand and walk as well as talk and hear. The employee must have the ability to lift, move and/or carry equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Use of either hand for repetitive movements such as grasping, grasping and turning, and fine manipulation. Often required to walk across campus and ascend and descend stairs to attend meetings and during tours.
