POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wastewater Plant Technician I, under the direction of the Operations Manager, will be responsible for monitoring and controlling plant systems and equipment to ensure efficient and compliant operations. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of our grease and/or wastewater processing facilities. Key responsibilities include conducting routine inspections, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment issues. Additionally, you will monitor water quality, document operational data, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. You will work closely with team members to implement process improvements and maintain a safe working environment. This position demands keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor and operate pumps, valves, and other equipment to control the flow and treatment of water and wastewater.
- Adjust chemical feed rates and other controls to ensure proper treatment processes. Operates daily production.
- Perform routine sampling and testing of water and wastewater to monitor quality and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Record data and maintain logs of plant operations and water quality.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, such as pumps, motors, blowers, and filtration systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues.
- Monitor control systems and instrumentation to maintain proper plant operations.
- Adjust treatment processes based on data analysis and testing results.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to protect oneself and coworkers, including handling hazardous chemicals safely.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, equipment maintenance, and process adjustments.
- Respond to emergencies, such as equipment failures, power outages, or chemical spills, to minimize environmental impact and ensure continued operation.
- Work with other technicians, drivers, and supervisors to optimize plant operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and report any issues or abnormalities.
- Train new employees and share knowledge with team members.
