Job Summary:Â A team member of nursing services who participates in the delivery of health care to the patients of Pueblo Community Health Center.

Â
Education/Experience/License/Certification:
- A current Colorado License-Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or graduate of a certified Medical Assistant Program.
- New graduates or students may be considered.
- Current B.L.S. with skills demonstration C.P.R. certification for Healthcare Providers required.
- Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance as required by law.
- Current certification or registration through NHA, AMT, AAMA or other recognized credentialing organization is preferred.

Required Travel:Â Occasional travel may be required including day-to-day local travel.

- Ensure the function and activities of this department to embrace the philosophy, mission, values, and Communicate with Heart service model supported by the Board of Directors of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
- Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
- Will be assigned positions temporarily vacated by regular staff for vacations, sick leave, or resignations. When there are no vacancies in staff positions, may be assigned to an area to complete nurse visits and messages for the providers.
- Follow scheduling procedures for providers. Follow clinical workflows and documentation for MAs and providers within electronic medical records.
- Access, use and update clinical data from various outside agencies.
- Follow clinical lab procedures including point of care testing.
- Maintain compliance with vaccine storage, handling, and administration policy and procedure.
- Utilize case management programs (EIS, breast health, colorectal cancer screening, Medicare annual wellness visits (MAWV), and pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric immunizations) and standing orders associated with them.
- Maintain supplies and equipment in exam rooms per policy and procedure.
- Ensure all clinical information is entered into and maintained within patient’s electronic medical record.
- Keep patients up to date with immunizations per Chief Medical Officer’s standing orders, (pediatric, adult & geriatric).
- Assist the medical providers in providing direct patient care as needed including treatments, procedures, and emergencies.
- May perform phlebotomy if assigned to satellite site.
- May be asked to assist with maintaining emergency medication/airway boxes and medication stock (narcotic log/count) if assigned to a Satellite Clinic.
- May assist in maintaining required data logs per policy and procedure.
- May assist with packing and sterilizing surgical instruments and maintenance of autoclave(s) per nursing policy and procedure.
- Document all patient encounters within their EMR per policy and procedure.
- Manage inbox and workflow in a timely manner. All patient calls and/or tasks received from the provider must be complete on the same day received.
- Match unmatched prescriptions with the Providers Inbox but do not ERx any medication.
- Administer immunizations, medications and treatments as prescribed by the medical provider and document in the patient’s electronic medical record.
- May assist with maintaining emergency medication/airway boxes and medication stock (narcotic log/count).
- Provide health care services appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients in accordance with the principles of growth and development for infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric life cycles.
- Maintain current licensure and CPR certification.
- Perform duties specific to assignment at a satellite clinic per policy and procedure.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Assist with accurate and timely completion of time and attendance activities.
- Follow organization and departmental call off procedures.
- May be assigned to Triage: Will function as a Telephone Screening MA and will follow Triage Policy and Procedure.
- Be a team member and participate in ongoing evaluations of patient care systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
