Dentist

Provide general dental care to patients in a community health care environment within the scope of professional training, experience, ability, and licensure. Examine patients and diagnoses dental conditions. administer, required services, treatments, and procedures. Advises patients on treatment plans and oral hygiene. prepare summaries, evaluations, medical records, and other documentation. Performs a variety of related duties.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Examine patients and diagnoses various dental conditions.
  • Perform preventative and restorative dental procedures, including basic cleaning, fillings and repairs, extractions, and implant placement, oral surgeries.
  • Administer local anesthesia as needed; procedures are generally performed under local anesthesia only.
  • Advise patients on treatment plans and oral hygiene.
  • Interpret x-rays and other diagnostic tests.
  • Refer patients to specialists if necessary and analyze medical records and reports.
  • Update and maintain accurate patient records.  
  • Use common software, including medical databases, research, diagnosis, billing, e-prescribing, scheduling, and telemedicine software.
  • Follow all guidelines, regulations, and standards in accordance with the Dental Board of California.
  • Work as part of an integrated care team.
  • Complete other duties and related projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform the duties described above.

Education & Experience:

  • Licensed to practice Dentistry in California
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical dental experience, including performing general dentistry procedures in a clinical or community health setting.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Root Canals, 3rd molar extractions, crown and bridge experience a plus.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English is required; proficiency in a second language (especially Spanish, Mandarin, or Vietnamese) is desirable.

Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural professional and experiential backgrounds and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Working conditions

The work is primarily conducted in a community clinic dental office environment, with potential exposure to all patient elements, including communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens. Strict adherence to safety and infection control protocols is required. Language interpretation services are utilized as needed to ensure effective communication with a diverse patient population. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
