Workforce Development & Internships Program Coordinator

As Program Coordinator for our workforce development program, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our interns and volunteers, fostering their development, ensuring a meaningful experiential learning experience and making a positive impact on our organization. This position requires a minimum of two years with workforce development, career services, volunteer management or similar prior experience working with students, interns or volunteers in a past role. 

 

Under general supervision, develops, updates, and implements activities that support student learning and exposure to career opportunities in their field of study. Performs the operational aspects of the internal Volunteer and Intern programs, including recruiting, onboarding, and coordinating the overall volunteer and intern experience. Works with internal and external partners to identify needs, develop positions and create advertisement of opportunities for interns and volunteer work force members. 

Full time at 30 - 40 hours /wk (up to you!) this is an hourly hybrid role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the HR point of contact for service-learning volunteers, incoming & current clinical trainees, externs and interns.
  • Work with internal and external partners to identify volunteer/trainee/intern placement and develop position descriptions, training plans and evaluation standards.
  • Build external partnerships with community groups, educational institutions, and job training programs to identify and promote relevant volunteer and internship opportunities. 
  • Liaison between the organization and educational institutions (faculty sponsors, career center and/or career counselors).
  • Schedule, coordinate, and assign volunteers to appropriate departments, supervisors, and/or mentors internally.
  • Develop and refine internship program processes, goals, objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Manage program budgets and resources.
  • Coordinate background checks and assist with credentialing of clinical interns as necessary.
  • Communicate with volunteers/interns and managers to ensure placement is a good fit for skills and goals.
  • Maintain files, records, applications, and other data including hours of service, skills, training received, availability, and special needs for audit and accreditation.
  • Prepare related materials, marketing, guidelines, best practices, and procedures. 
  • Promote program opportunities via social media, referrals, academic institutions, community resources, creative job postings, and outside agencies.
  • Attend practicum and internship fairs. Make presentations promoting intern and volunteer programs.

 

Qualifications

  • Two years or more of experience coordinating or managing an Internship or Volunteer program or a related role. 
  • Prior experience in an area such as Workforce Development, Career Counseling, Career Services, Employment Counseling, Job Placement, Experiential Learning Coordination, Campus Relations, Volunteer Management  Human Resources or similarly related area is required.
  • Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or similar credential or certification desired but not required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural professional and experiential background
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Previous experience as a volunteer or intern yourself is a plus.
  • This position may require driving. 
  • Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or similar credential or certification desired but not required.
  • Bilingual in Vietnamese, Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Korean desired but not required
