POSITION DESCRIPTION

Mission
The mission of Helpline Youth Counseling (HYC) is to help build individual, family, and community health, well-being, prosperity, and equity. HYC serves clients and community members with trauma-informed, strength-based, person-centered prevention, early intervention, education, and treatment services.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Lead Youth Services Coordinator, the Youth Services Counselor will provide educational workshops on multiple topics, including life skills training, anger management training, and counseling. The Youth Services Counselor will be responsible for recruiting youth participants, schools, and community partners to conduct workshops throughout the year.
The Youth Services Counselor will:
- Provide virtual and/or on-campus prevention and/or intervention services, including but not limited to counseling, school groups, Life Skills training, and/or anger management.
- Provide support in other programs within the Department of Youth Services, which may include conducting outreach efforts to ensure the community served is provided with information about available Youth Services programming. Outreach includes, but is not limited to, mailers/flyers distributed at community events, schools, community centers, places of worship, and social service efforts. Events may include evenings and weekends.
- Will be the central point of contact for program services, referrals, billing, events, etc., to the community.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation based on the agency’s documentation policy. In addition, maintain accurate and timely documentation of all job-related activities.
- Great work ethic demonstrated by reliability, punctuality, professionalism, diligence, and strong follow-up skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with a proven track record for strategic planning and execution and attention to detail.
- Attend all assigned community meetings as assigned by the Lead Youth Services Coordinator. Must professionally represent the agency.
- Ability to succeed independently within a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes unpredictable work environment.
- Competency in working with the various ethnic/cultural groups in the target area/community.
- Ability to effectively communicate in written form as well as verbally.
- Adhere to and promote HYC’s mission and values. Acts as a role model to others, exhibiting a high degree of professionalism.
- Must be willing to commute to various settings, including but not limited to school campuses, agency offices and county offices, etc.
- Conducts case file audits to assure participants' records are complete and accurate.
- Other related duties as assigned.
