Unpaid Position: Volunteer Coordinator
This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for someone that wants to give back to our veterans and our community! If you are retired, or have time to give, please consider this opportunity to help us serve those who have served! This position will play a vital role in our annual Stand Down Event, with other opportunities available throughout the year.
Since 1988, Veterans Village of San Diego has hosted an annual Stand Down event, providing at-risk and unhoused veterans and their families with critical resource to help them with resources needed to regain their lives outside of the military. This year, the Stand Down Resource Event proudly expands its services to support all veterans — including active-duty service members, and their families with services including:
· Housing Assistance
· Mental Health Care
· VA Medical Services
· Substance Abuse Treatment
· Workforce Development
· Employers Interviewing and Hiring at the Event
· Financial Assistance
· Legal Support
· Dental and Vision Care
· Food and Clothing
· Holistic Health Care: Reiki, Yoga, Sound Bowl, and Chiropractic Services
· Financial Education
· Art and Music Therapy
· Educational Workshops and Classes: Offering a variety of sessions focused on veteran advocacy, employment readiness, mental health, legal rights, wellness, and life skills to help veterans build knowledge, confidence, and stability for their future.

Volunteer Program (Stand Down and Year-Round Volunteer Programs) Coordinator Duties:
- Manage volunteer assignments for Stand Down
- Attend weekly Stand Down Meetings
- Manage Volunteers and oversee volunteer tent during the event.
- Determine volunteer needs based on pillars of volunteerism and match volunteers to their choice of volunteer passion.
- Recruit and maintain a group of volunteers to assist with the VVSD pillars of Volunteerism and Stand Down event.
- Helps maintain volunteer information.
- Network within the community to support a strong and growing volunteer database and explain the importance of volunteering at VVSD.
- Communicate marketing needs to the Marketing department to support volunteer outreach efforts.
- Provide social media material for monthly content calendar to be added to VVSD’s social media platforms.
