DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and some experience in heavy manual labor and in the use of tools.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, utility construction and repair activities.
(B) Knowledge of Federal, State, County and City codes regarding cross-connection control. Knowledge of the installation, testing and maintenance of all types of backflow prevention assemblies.. Familiar with all types of water distribution and sewer collection systems. Knowledge of occupational hazards of the trade and of proper use of safety procedures.
(C) Skilled in the operation of tools and equipment;
(D) Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignments correctly. Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, department officials and the general public. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; Ability to work safely; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to perform simple math calculations.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid Florida Driver's license. Current Certification as a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester as well as Repair and Maintenance Technician’s license or the ability to obtain one.
