DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) High school diploma or GED equivalent.
(B) One year recreation experience; or
(C) Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Knowledge of recreation equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program;
(B) Skilled in the operation of tools and equipment; Skilled in First Aid and CPR.
(C) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age. Two years’ experience working in recreation, camp or child care setting. Must possess or have the ability to obtain within 1 month of hire; CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Calculator; copy and fax machine; phone; mobile or portable radio; automobile; various sports equipment used in recreation programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a computer, basic office equipment, telephone, fitness/sports equipment, sound equipment, etc. Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds) to moderately heavy weight (up to 50 pounds). Must be able to swim. Routinely works in outside weather conditions. Noise level in work environment is generally loud. Requires the ability to talk and hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear).
