Position Summary: Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) seeks an organized, creative, and proactive Events & Media Coordinator to oversee the planning and execution of high-impact events and manage digital engagement strategies across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate is a collaborative multitasker with an eye for detail, a strong sense of ownership, and a passion for the work of FSRI.

Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Management
- Research and secure event venues with approval from the Director of Development and VP of Philanthropy
- Work with Development Director to develop comprehensive event plans for fundraising, community, and staff-focused events
- Organize and manage volunteers to support various events
- Supervise vendor arrivals and setups to ensure alignment with run-of-show and event goals
- Assist with hands-on setup and breakdown of events, ensuring timely execution and cleanup
- Manage all event details including tablecloths, flowers, signage, AV, caterer
- Plan and confirm event details such as seating, dining, entertainment, timeline, and guest list
- Collect sponsor assets (logos, taglines, etc.) for integration into promotional materials
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and track expenditures
- Report weekly on planning progress and budget status to the Director of Development and VP of Philanthropy
- Participate in debriefs and improvement planning
Social Media & Digital Engagement
- Support development of and coordinate our strategic editorial calendar for FSRI and affiliated programs, including Lucy’s Hearth and AIDS Project Rhode Island
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to create engaging, relevant content that reflects the voice and mission of each program
- Implement strategies to grow audience reach and foster engagement across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X
- Monitor analytics and adjust tactics to improve performance
- Respond to online comments and inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in event planning, social media management, marketing, or nonprofit development
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills with a flair for creative problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort with AV production, design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and digital scheduling platforms
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Strong alignment with FSRI’s mission and commitment to equity and community-centered care
- Bilingual/ASL skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
- Multilingual skills are compensated by an additional 8%, above base pay.
