Job Summary: To provide quality patient centered care in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtains vital signs and performs routine patient intake, documenting appropriately.
  • Directs patient flow. Assists other staff in need of assistance to maintain patient flow.
  • Performs and documents basic patient history, treatments and administered medications appropriately.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the provider following PCC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and reports to the nurse any pertinent information regarding the patients condition and care.
  • Keeps providers informed of changes in assignments or patient flow that will affect working conditions.
  • Performs laboratory and diagnostic tests as ordered by the provider.
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and materials. Orders medical supplies under supervision of the Clinic Administrator.
  • Performs and records quality control checks on specific medical equipment, office diagnostic tests following established protocol as directed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly clinical work area.
  • Observes PCC policies, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Follows PCC customer service guidelines and protocols.
  • Drive continual quality improvement through participation in organizational quality improvement efforts that may include but are not limited to patient satisfaction, clinical and operational quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provides other related duties as assigned by Clinic Administrator.

Qualifications

Experience/Training:

  • Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant Program.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • Constantly communicates with patients, families, and other healthcare providers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Proficient in MS Office Business Applications to include: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Current and valid CPR card.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to move around the clinic site 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer, computer printer, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Occasionally positions self to maintain exertion of physical strength to move objects of 10 pounds from one level to another.
  • Must be able to transport from one site to another.
  • Must be able to cover other shifts as necessary.
  • Required shift rotation.

 

Other Skills:

  • Ability to read and write proficiently using the English language.
  • Constantly communicates with other healthcare providers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Follow-through, assume responsibility and use good judgment.
  • Maintain professionalism under stressful situations.
  • Self-motivated and directed with the ability to prioritize and work efficiently under pressure.
