Policy and Advocacy Senior Manager

Position Overview:
As part of our Center for Social Justice (CSJ), this role will lead the development and implementation of our policy and advocacy initiatives. This includes collaborating closely with local communities and police departments on advocacy, community education, and leadership development. This position is crucial for advancing social justice through effective policy change and advocacy efforts at the local, state, and national levels. A successful candidate is a mission-driven individual with experience in government relations, police reform, program management, and community engagement.
What you’ll do:
- Plan, design, and execute CSJ programming to advance CSJ’s strategic goals.
- Identify, research, and analyze policy issues that impact the communities we serve.
- Develop policy positions and strategies that align with the Urban League’s mission and goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of policy changes and advocacy initiatives.
- Represent the Urban League in meetings with government officials, legislators, police departments, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy changes.
- Draft policy briefs, reports, and other materials to communicate policy positions and recommendations.
- Lead advocacy efforts to influence public policy and legislative actions.
- Build and strengthen relationships with policymakers, government officials, and community leaders.
- Organize and track CSJ community engagement activities and outreach.
- Represent the Urban League at policy meetings, hearings, and other advocacy events.
- Facilitate collaborative advocacy efforts with stakeholders and coordinate joint advocacy campaigns as needed.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to promote policy and advocacy initiatives such as press releases, newsletters, social media content, and other materials that raise awareness.
- Identify funding opportunities to support policy and advocacy work.
Working environment:
This full-time, in-person position is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The role requires a blend of office-based work and community engagement, including local travel and occasional evenings and weekends. Activities involve regular computer use, meetings, and presentations, as well as occasional physical tasks such as setting up events. Salary information:
The estimated salary range for this position starts at $70,000 per year. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
