Location: Administrative Office - Patient Accounts Department

City: Bellingham, WA

Position: Full-time 30-40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, non-exempt (hourly)

Compensation: The full wage scale for a Epic Patient Access Analyst I is $29.37 - $44.08 per hour.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Epic Patient Access Analyst is responsible for the ongoing assessment, design, development, testing, support, training and maintenance of the Cadence and/or Prelude applications. The Analyst participates fully in the Epic project team, becoming the key subject matter expert and acting as the liaison between clinics and the project team, performing at the highest level of all phases of Epic application analysis, workflow analysis, building and testing.

 

Epic Patient Access Analyst Position Structure and Role Placement/Progression

The Epic Patient Access Analyst role is structured to reflect the industry standard which provides a tiered approach to recognizing a candidate and/or incumbents Epic related experience in this application, Epic certification or accreditation as well as tenure within the organization. The position structure and role placement/progression are defined below:

 

Epic Patient Access Tech

Previous EHR application support experience preferred. Through training, experience and commitment demonstrates proficiency and aptitude and at Epics guidance and FCNs discretion is provided the opportunity to take the certification/accreditation examination.

Epic Patient Access Analyst I

Possesses Epic certification/accreditation in the application. *An external candidate will be placed in the position tier based upon the applicability of previous work experience.

Epic Patient Access Analyst II

Minimum 3 years experience as an Epic Patient Access Analyst at FCN* with a demonstrated track record of success in all key job functions. *An external candidate will be placed in the position tier based upon the applicability of previous work experience.

Epic Patient Access Senior Analyst

Minimum 5 years experience as an Epic Patient Access Analyst at FCN* with a broad understanding, expertise and certifications in multiple applications. *An external candidate will be placed in the position tier based upon the applicability of previous work experience.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Acts as the primary support contact for Cadence and/or Prelude end-users.

  • Identifies issues that arise related to Cadence and/or Prelude as well as issues that impact other application teams and works to resolve them.

  • Guides workflow design, building and testing of the system, and analyzes other technical issues associated with Epic software.

  • Defines system setup requirements and documents system setup.

  • Identifies and implements requested changes to the system.

  • Participates in upgrades and special updates.

  • Serves as the liaison between end-users workflow needs and Epic implementations staff.

  • Maintains regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in project team meetings.

  • Works with Epic representatives, FCNs business community and end-users to ensure the system meets the organizations business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timeline.

  • Learns Epic technology and performs many system maintenance tasks such as system imports, basic reporting and system configuration.

  • Develops an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for FCNs workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions.

  • Participates in training and working with end-users.

  • Troubleshoots problems and questions.

  • Reviews the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.

  • Communicates regularly with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget and upcoming milestones,

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of the operational practices of scheduling and payer authorization, including nuances of provider schedules within your organization, scheduling practices for certain types of visits, and how these practices related to the medical record flow for appointments.

  • Possesses knowledge of areas that integrate with Cadence, including check-in, registration, benefits, referrals, PCP assignment and orders.

Qualifications

Epic Certification/Accreditation & Training Requirements

If a staff member is Epic certified/accredited prior to hire, FCN will determine if additional Epic training is required to assure proficiency or currency in the new assigned role and may provide Epic training at the organizations discretion.

If a staff member is not Epic certified/accredited prior to hire, FCN will provide Epic training at the appropriate timeframe based upon demonstrated aptitude, readiness for the training and the Epic training schedule. It is expected, that after the training is completed, the staff member will take the Epic Certification exam and become certified/accredited. Although the staff member may be provided with up to two additional attempts to achieve certification/accreditation, if the employee is unable to do so, at the discretion of FCN, the staff member may no longer be considered qualified to meet the requirements of the position.

Training Requirements The Epic Patient Access Analyst attends the appropriate course track as designated by Epic and Family Care Network.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of three to five years healthcare experience preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical experience in revenue cycle systems management.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger coordination, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

Immunization Requirements: Employees are required to meet immunization standards in accordance with federal, state, and organizational health and safety guidelines, as applicable to the role. A simple process is in place for employees to request exemptions for medical or religious reasons.
