Definition and Role

The position of Regional Director of Operations reports directly to the Vice President of Operations. This role involves planning and managing clinical and operational aspects of the implementation, maintenance, and growth of wound medicine in assigned settings. This position will be responsible for all ancillary support staff in the assigned region.

 

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assesses each respective program in the assigned region for adequate resource utilization for patient care delivery as well as the utilization of cost effective products, providing optimal wound outcomes.
  • Proactively manages expansion and maintenance of clinical and operational aspects that support providers in the delivery of wound medicine in a variety of clinical settings.
  • Performs ongoing reviews to assess clinic flow and function, patient care delivery, documentation, and overall operational performance.
  • Provides efficient updates on progress with respect to overall regional status including but not limited to vendors, project plans, budget, performance metrics, quality standards and risk mitigation.
  • Participates in startup and expansion processes as assigned.
  • Works proactively with other departments including but not limited to IT, HR, intake, billing, administration, providers, and Executive Leadership, in accordance with applicable project goals, company standard operational procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes all available communication mechanisms while facilitating the collaboration of services among all team members in order to troubleshoot field issues and concerns.
  • Establishes a cadence of availability to facility liaisons and regional account executives to proactively address service opportunities and concerns, while collaborating with clinical staff to maintain effective facility practices and customer satisfaction.
  • Implements plans of action with to identify, address and coordinate services on opportunities regarding product knowledge, documentation deficiencies, and coding interventions with clinical staff as well as treating physicians and nurse practitioners.
  • Acts as a preceptor in the orientation of new staff as assigned and/or delegates preceptorship to qualified personnel.
  • Develops new and current staff through proper education, training, coaching, and mentoring, utilizing both structured training, orientation, or initiatives as well as intermittently as needed throughout their employment.
  • Develops turnover strategies for improving key retention and staffing strategies to ensure adequate resources to manage patient census changes.
  • Works with under-performing clinics and/or service lines to develop "turnaround strategies".
  • Assists and/or develops efficiency and quality electronic medical record documentation processes, including compliance with federal programs such as MIPS.

  • Ensures potential roadblocks and risks are escalated to the attention of leadership when appropriate.
  • Maintain relationships with providers, vendors, and administrative staff, and works collaboratively at all times with other Regional Directors of Operations.
  • Develops documents such as protocols, policies, forms, and procedures for approval.
  • Obtains and maintains familiarity with financial aspects including reviewing invoices, revenue generation, accounting tasks, and preparing budgets.
  • Contributes to both detailed and summary level statistical analysis and data reporting documentation.
  • Respects and maintains patient confidentiality in written, verbal, and electronic information.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3-5+ years of clinical experience as a Nurse.
  • Wound care experience is preferred but not required
  • Must have excellent communication, analytical and writing skills
  • Experience in Project Management and leadership of matrix teams is preferred
  • Experience with management of team members to assure project deliverables
  • Experience working with patient outcome measurement tools required
  • Experience with patient selection and management of clinical modalities
  • Experience with start-up and close-out activities
  • Experience with management and oversight of vendors (e.g., pharmaceutical, DME, etc.)
  • Proficiency in computer software programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Project)

 

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility and Lifting: Frequent sitting for extended periods of time; frequent standing; frequent lifting up to 25 pounds; moderate to extensive travel via car.
  • Visual: Constant ability to read information, including close up; constant ability to use a computer screen; frequent use of good overall vision, including color perception.
  • Dexterity: Constant eye and hand coordination and manual dexterity to write, operate a computer keyboard and finely manipulate small objects.
  • Emotional/Psychological: Constant ability to make decisions and concentrate.
