In our Middle School, you’ll work with colleagues and students who infuse challenge with joy. All eighty-six Middle School faculty are part of Professional Learning Communities that meet four times weekly to design lessons, create assessments, and explore new ideas. Supervisor: Head of Middle School

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None

Position Status: Salaried, exempt, full-time, 10 month

Work Hours: Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required. 

Anticipated Start Date: August 1st, 2025


 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a successful candidate.

  • Candidates should have a strong academic background in History, with an undergraduate degree in History or a related field or discipline. Two or more years of Middle School teaching experience and a Master’s degree are preferred.
  • Background in World Cultures and US History preferred
  • Experience developing classrooms and curriculum that further Westminster’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.


 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Teach sections of World Cultures (6th), US History (7th), and electives (8th) as assigned
  • Co-teach a 2-week immersive, interdisciplinary class during MayATL
  • Teach and support students as part of the Homeroom advisory program
  • Create multi-disciplinary course work, including STEAM-related initiatives
  • Work directly with other Middle School teachers as part of a Professional Learning Community
  • Contribute to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs
  • Supervises students during lunch, etc., on a rotating basis
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to become CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified is required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.  The noise level in the work environment is often loud.

TRAVEL


Travel is primarily local during the regular business day.  Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required and is associated mainly with planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.

Driving a Westminster vehicle may be required for this position.
