Development Associate - San Francisco, CA

Classification: Full Time, Exempt  

                       
Position Summary
The Development Associate supports the Development team in managing the entitlement, permitting, and design coordination process for City Ventures’ residential projects throughout the Greater Bay Area. This role will have a particular focus within the North Bay Area and will assist in advancing projects from land acquisition handoff through building permit issuance, ensuring that each project progresses efficiently through city approvals. The Associate works closely with consultants, city staff, and internal teams to track schedules, coordinate submittals, and prepare documentation for internal and public review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project entitlement, permitting, and design coordination efforts—primarily for projects in Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties—under the direction of the Director of Development.
  • Assist in preparing, submitting, and tracking planning and permit applications.
  • Coordinate with consultants (civil engineers, architects, landscape architects, and utility designers) to obtain drawings, studies, and reports needed for approvals.
  • Research zoning, General Plan, and CEQA requirements to support entitlement strategies.
  • Maintain project schedules, submittal logs, and agency correspondence to ensure timely responses and progress.
  • Prepare presentation materials, exhibits, and summaries for Planning Commission and City Council hearings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including Land Acquisition, Site Operations, and Vertical Operations—to ensure designs align with construction feasibility and budget goals.
  • Assist with due diligence documentation and entitlement summaries for Investment Committee and internal reporting.

Qualifications

  • Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience (1–3 years) in development, planning, or related real estate work is a plus.
  • Familiarity with entitlement, permitting, and design review processes in Northern California municipalities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with project tracking or scheduling software preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Business, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.

 

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 Annual Salary with additional Discretionary Bonus amount to be determined.
