Description

The Manager of Volunteer Services is responsible for all aspects of the volunteer program consistent with St Croix Hospice policies and procedures ensuring CHAP requirements are met and followed. Will be responsible for the orientation, training and coordination of all the Volunteer Coordinators and for developing, planning, coordinating, and managing all of the volunteer program activities in the assigned region.

  • Assures the volunteer program in in compliance with agency policy and procedure. Meets Medicare and NHPCOs standards for compliance and agency goals.
  • Maintains and follows the volunteer training and orientation program.
  • Assists with the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of qualified Volunteer Coordinators.
  • Responsible for the supervision and evaluating of Volunteer Coordinators.
  • Completes comprehensive chart audits, and data collection.
  • Plans and conducts volunteer support meetings providing continuing education.
  • Plans regular meetings with Volunteer Coordinators
  • Develops the recruitment program of volunteers and selects volunteers from at least three (3) recruitment sessions a year.
  • Ensures the delivery of all volunteer services are in accordance with the patient’s plan of care
  • Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team.
  • Reports all grievances / complaints made by patients and families to the Regional Director of Clinical Operations and assists with follow up.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure each Volunteer Coordinator understands cost savings goal and strives to meet the 5% cost saving goal.
  • Ensures volunteer personnel files are maintained and current on all volunteers.
  • Reevaluate volunteer program as necessary.
  • Coordinate support/education meetings.
  • Attends interdisciplinary group meetings.
  • Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
  • Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
  • Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
  • Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree or advanced degree in human services, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year - experience in a health care setting. Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
  • Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, and interruptions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Understands hospice philosophy.
  • Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
  • Ability to manage and direct Volunteer Coordinators
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order. 

The salary range for this role is $72,000 - $85,000/annually.  An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
