WORK SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

JOB SUMMARY

The Instructional Designer has the primary responsibility of working with faculty as subject matter experts to plan, develop/redesign, and implement high-quality courses to create engaging learning experiences through the application of effective pedagogies, instructional design processes, and educational technologies. The Instructional Designer also serves as a point of support for faculty and institutional initiatives.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  • Work with faculty as subject matter experts to develop and redesign courses to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Develop and recommend interface design, sequence of instruction, use of assessments, and the best design of course materials and activities that adhere to assessment guidelines and instructional best practices.
  • Apply knowledge of effective pedagogies, instructional design processes, and educational technologies in course design and delivery.
  • Design and build a load of courses each academic year.
  • Provide instructional design support for faculty.
  • Complete tasks related to institutional research, assessment, and institutional initiatives.
  • Perform any other job function that is deemed necessary by the AVP.
  • Attend University events as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Southern Nazarene University is an expression of the Church of the Nazarene.   • An understanding of the importance of diversity, inclusion and equity.\Preferred Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of developing and delivering best practices in online and blended learning.
  • Experience in developing and redesigning fully online and blended courses.
  • Familiarity with educational technologies and Learning Management Systems.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish department and university goals.
  • Ability to work well independently and remotely.
  • A personal commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to the mission and core values of the Church of the Nazarene.

Supervision Received:

Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated supervisor, although other staff members in the unit may provide work direction.

Supervision Exercised:

May be responsible for the coordination of work assignments for student employees or interns.
