Purpose:

Are you a graphics guru? Is your canvas every kind of designed media out there (from digital media website and display advertising to tradional print, and every new platform in between? Are your designs full of pop culture and as wild as your imagination can make them? Is Adobe your native language? Is Figma your second language? If so, we’d like to talk.

We’re looking for someone who can advance our brand through vibrant, engaging visual media that speaks to all audiences, but primarily a Gen-Z audience. This role is a mix of highly digital graphic design and print. You might be designing a t-shirt and working on a printed publication one day, and designing for one of our websites the next.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Build creative concepts, wireframes, prototypes, and finished visual designs for digital, interactive media.
  • Create print design for brochures, flyers, branded merchandise, and an occasional magazine publication.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to create informed design solutions.
  • Partner with video content creator to develop visually compelling and interactive designs for media on all digital platforms, especially media with a mobile-first lens.
  • Collaborate closely with the web developer to ensure graphicically designed elements incorporate seamlessly into our website properties and create the best possible user experience.
  • Present design concepts and rationale to leadership stakeholders as required/needed.
  • Maintain brand and design guidelines and best practices across Cleveland University-Kansas City’s graphic design ecosystem in coordination with the MARCOM director, updating as necessary.
  • Stay current with advancements in web design, useability standards, and pop culture across all advertising platforms.
  • Conduct regular competitive analyses of digital properties in the higher education sector to inform design strategies.
  • Employ a creative streak that keeps brand in mind but does not confine itself to barriers within the “brand box.”

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of design experience OR a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating digital and printed work (must include design for websites).
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of print processes.
  • Strong attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in UX/UI design with Figma or similar.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment marketing to Gen-Z/young adults.
  • Propensity for emerging marketing platforms.
