Description

About JCS

Jewish Collaborative Services (JCS) provides essential services across Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts, including senior care, counseling, housing and food assistance, and community support programs. Rooted in Jewish values of compassion, dignity, and inclusivity, we are committed to serving individuals and families of all backgrounds with empathy and respect.

Position Summary

JCS is seeking a Donor Steward —a relationship-builder with heart, charm, and strategy. Reporting to the Senior Manager of External Relations, this position plays a key role in cultivating and stewarding individual donors, coordinating engaging donor-focused events, and helping to build long-term, mission-driven relationships.

You’ll work closely with the Development Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure a cohesive approach to outreach, engagement, and giving. You’ll be someone who knows how to speak to donors’ values, make them feel seen and appreciated, and invite them to deepen their connection to the JCS mission.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Stewardship & Relationship Building

  • Cultivate relationships with new and existing donors through personalized outreach, meaningful communication, and ongoing stewardship.
  • Coordinate thank-you processes, donor acknowledgments, and mission updates to ensure donors feel appreciated and connected.
  • Support annual and campaign-specific fundraising efforts with thoughtful donor engagement strategies and follow-up.

Event Coordination

  • Plan and execute donor-centric events (e.g., stewardship gatherings, small fundraising receptions, community appreciation events) that elevate JCS’s profile and build loyalty.
  • Represent JCS at community events, sometimes speaking publicly, always engaging warmly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of External Relations on messaging, logistics, and follow-up strategies.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work in close partnership with the Development Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator to align donor messaging, event planning, and engagement goals.
  • Contribute to donor and community communications including impact stories, email updates, and event materials.

Tracking & Reporting

  • Utilize the organization’s CRM/database to track donor touchpoints, event attendance, and engagement trends.
  • Generate reports that inform strategy, identify opportunities, and highlight donor impact.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, or nonprofit events.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with an authentic, warm, and persuasive style.
  • Experience in coordinating donor or community events; confident in engaging donors in person and by phone.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office; experience with donor databases preferred.
  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with or openness to Jewish cultural values and community settings is a plus.
