Description

Job purpose

The Material Handler operates machinery to move third party material, store, press and mold into bales, sort and reload material per customer orders.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Control and operate equipment, forklift, skid steers, banding equipment, overhead cranes, balers, and front-end loaders, etc.
  • Operate scales and document material appropriately.
  • Follow all safety protocols to include but not limited to required PPE to training as required and assigned.
  • Conduct basic regular maintenance checks on equipment and machinery to ensure proper functioning (routine inspections to include, for example, oil level checks)
  • Ensuring cleanliness, and general upkeep of the facility.
  • Daily monitoring of equipment performance reporting any concerns, malfunctions, or potential issues to the supervisor immediately to include watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure machinery is working properly.
  • Notifying supervisor promptly of any mechanical or facility-related concerns.
  • Keep work area clean and free of debris.
  • Perform work as a team member.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • Forklift Experience
  • Background working with machinery.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Dependability to meet deadlines/reliable to be present physically & mentally.
  • Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and agree to agencies drug free workplace policies.

  • Must be able to lift at least sixty pounds.
  • Ability to stand 80% of the workday; 20% heavy equipment.
  • Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles repeatedly or continuously 80% of the workday.
  • Stand, walk, use hands, reach, lift and move objects.
  • Ability to read, write, talk and hear.
  • Steel toe boots
