Departmental Operations:
|
Regularly patrols the hospital premises and adjacent buildings on PSMC property to identify and address potential security risks.
|

Monitors surveillance systems (cameras, alarms, etc.) to detect and prevent suspicious activity.
|
Controls access to the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel enter and/or exit.
|
Verifies identification and manages visitors as appropriate.
|
Responds promptly to alarms, disturbances and emergencies, ensuring safety of employees and visitors.
|
Assists with evacuation during fire and other threats.
|
Provides basic first aid or medical assistance as needed.
|
Enforces hospital security policies and procedures.
|
Prevents theft, vandalism and other criminal activity.
|
De-escalates and resolves conflicts or disturbances.
|
Maintains self-control in stressful situations.
|
Manages verbally or physically aggressive situation without injury to patients and staff, using verbal intervention / de-escalation skills, remaining calm, exercising judgment and avoiding unnecessary physical force and abusive language.
|
Assists clinical staff in the application of clinical restraints, including physical holds when necessary.
|
Documents security incidents and activities accurately and completely.
|
Prepares variance reports and communicates information to supervisor and other relevant personnel.
|
Assists with wayfinding and escorts for patients and visitors.
|
Maintains a high level of customer services and professionalism.
|
Identifies and reports potential safety risks and hazards.
|
Operates security systems, including video monitoring, access control and alarm systems.
|
Protects hospital property, equipment, supplies and confidential information.
|
Safeguards hospital assets from theft, vandalism and damage by implementing security measures and protocols, such as access control, surveillance and patrols.
|
Escalates emergency situations to local law enforcement as appropriate.
|
Utilizes solid judgment and is quick to identify the best course of action for dealing with a potentially dangerous situation and / or violent patients / visitors.
