Description

SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION

In this Born Learning project, the employee serves as a member of the Early Childhood Programs team and works closely with related teams in CCG. He/she recruits new homes, provides mentoring, support, and training to recruited families enrolled in the Born Learning project to ensure the goals of the project are met in a timely manner. Position meets funders requirements for this project. This position is responsible for generating accurate and timely reports for the funder. Works under the supervision of the Home-Based Program Manager , with considerable demand for independent judgment and action.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Born Learning Project: Responsible for the successful implementation of the Born Learning project from recruitment of at least 35 qualified families to achievement of their individual goals. Responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing an individualized plan for each participating family and child, and purchasing the necessary materials in support of the family needs to achieve their goals.

Training and Assessment: Attend Parents as Teachers Born to Learn training and become a certified Parents-as-Teachers Parent Educator. Attend all follow up sessions as required. Responsible for visiting each family at least monthly in their home at a time convenient for the family including evenings and weekends. Provides on-going technical assistance and assesses the progress of each participating family toward reaching their goal/s. Ensures all screenings, developmental and physical, are conducted in a timely manner and according to the specifications of the grant. Coordinates and attends group training sessions.

Agency Relations: Networks with all social services agencies in the catchment area to attain knowledge of available services in order to refer families to all appropriate agencies. Maintain current agency information in a database. Refers families to any and all appropriate social service agencies and ensures follow up. Responsible for working individually and/or as a member of a team to meet the requirements of the funder.

Recordkeeping: Responsible for generating accurate and timely reports for the funder, including but not limited to: group training information, home visits, referrals, progress reports, vignettes, success stories and any other requested information. Prepares materials for special reports, newsletters, and parent or provider educational materials as requested.

Community Relations: Consistently brings all complaints or concerns by clients, providers, and others to the immediate attention of the Home-Based Program Manager. Represents the agency at workshops, conferences, and other events, and participates in staff development activities as assigned. Keeps abreast of current child development issues and shares information and resources with parents.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

AA or Bachelors Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, Parent Education or closely related field or equivalent, required

Five years work experience in child care required

Good working knowledge of social service agencies and resources available throughout North Texas

Excellent telephone and communication skills required

Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines as required

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in the framework of a team

Competence in data processing, word processing and spreadsheet applications required

Regular and prompt attendance required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position requires working during non-traditional working hours including evenings and weekends on a regular basis

Candidate must be available to work these shifts as required

Must be able to travel. Must have reliable transportation; valid Texas drivers license, proof of liability insurance and driving record acceptable to CCGs automobile liability insurance carrier

Work requires normal physical effort, visual attention, manual dexterity or coordination. Any lifting restricted to items weighing less than 25 pounds

Qualifications
