Episcopal High School is seeking flexible and proactive substitute teachers to join our educational community. This role involves following lesson plans and maintaining a productive classroom environment in the absence of the full time teacher. The ideal candidate will be able to think on their feet, build positive relationships with students, and take the initiative to ensure that student learning continues smoothly. Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow the lesson plans provided by the full-time teacher, ensuring that activities are carried out as scheduled.
  • Monitor student progress and provide support where needed.
  • Maintain an engaging and respectful classroom environment.
  • Build rapport with students using a relational approach to encourage participation and learning.
  • Adapt to changing circumstances and think on your feet to address classroom challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Use technology to access lesson plans and complete necessary reports.
  • Take initiative to support students and maintain a productive, focused classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preference for degrees in Arts, World Languages, Science, English, or Math.
  • Prior classroom or teaching experience is a plus.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • A relational approach to working with students and a commitment to their academic and personal growth.
  • Ability to think quickly and adapt to new situations in the classroom.
  • Initiative in taking on additional responsibilities when needed.
  • Access to a computer and proficiency with basic technology are required.
  • Reliable transportation and proximity to Episcopal High School are required.
