LOCATION: Lane College, Jackson, TN

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Data Coordinator supports the Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IRE) division in ensuring systematic collection, analysis, and reporting of institutional data. This position plays a critical role in enabling data-informed decision-making, supporting compliance and accreditation, and driving strategic and continuous improvement initiatives at Lane College. The role requires excellent personal skills to ensure coordination between various units to ensure consistent data practices and compliance with internal and external reporting standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Integrity and Management: Develop and implement systems to ensure data accuracy, quality, and consistency across all institutional units. Conduct routine audits and data validation to maintain integrity.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, interpret, and summarize data to produce timely reports for institutional planning and external compliance.
  • Support for Institutional Effectiveness: Partner with the IE team to supply data for program review, assessment, and strategic planning. Lead survey design, distribution, and analysis efforts.
  • Data Requests and Stakeholder Support: Respond to internal data needs, develop training for departments, and facilitate workshops to promote a data-informed culture.
  • Dashboard Development and Maintenance: Design and maintain dashboards that communicate key institutional metrics in real-time using tools like Tableau or Power BI.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the ability to manage data processes effectively and collaborate across departments with professionalism and attention to detail. Strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills are essential.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Educational Research, or a related field is required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in data analysis, management, or institutional research required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to read, comprehend, and draft professional documentation and present technical information clearly in both individual and group settings.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to data validation, analysis, and visualization.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to apply logical reasoning to solve data-related problems and synthesize information to support strategic decisions.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Proficiency with Excel, SQL, and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Ability to use standard office equipment and software. Experience in survey tools and data governance practices preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate. Occasionally must lift up to 25 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primarily an office environment. May be occasionally exposed to dust or electrical components. Noise level is generally moderate.
