Construction Teacher

Position available for immediate hire.

Tentative Schedule: 

Monday through Friday: 1:20 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Work Days: 180 

Position Purpose 

The Part-Time Construction Teacher will use a provided curriculum and implement hands on projects to build student's technical skills in carpentry and electrical wiring, under the supervision of the Director of Innovation. This position will be responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with CEC's academic philosophy, goals, and objectives. Three years of recent combined education and work experience in the construction industry is required, with experience in framing, plumbing, and electrical preferred.

Job Duties: 

• Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website. 
• Administers a provided construction education curriculum and implements hands on projects consistent with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.
• Presents subject matter using various teaching methods and technology to adapt to varied learning styles.  

• Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines and/or state and local requirements.  
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and administers and evaluates tests and assignments.  
• Communicates with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve behavioral and academic problems and coordinate instructional efforts.  
• Maintains and oversees use of any lab/technology equipment.  
• Supports student achievement and career planning.  
• Implements lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities to enhance learning and to demonstrate the application of course work to everyday life. 
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly. 
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student and small group learning by ensuring student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies. 
• Ensures effective communication with students and parents. 
• Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies. 
• Selects and requisitions appropriate textbooks; instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; and maintains inventory records. 
• Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Director of Innovation. 
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and keeps informed of current developments in education. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

• 3 years recent combined education and work experience in construction industry, with verification and references.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Framing, Plumbing, and Electrical. 

• Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university applicable to the teaching assignment.
