Position Purpose
The Kitchen Manager supervises and coordinates food services to ensure proper nutrition and safeguard the health of students, staff and visitors, while maintaining requirements of the USDA Child Nutrition Program. The Kitchen Manager encompasses passion for working in kitchens that create meals from scratch and that operate with the National School Lunch Program. To accomplish these tasks, the Kitchen Manager must work closely with school staff and administration.
 
This is a school-based, salaried, and benefits-eligible position which works Monday - Friday during the school year from August through May.
 
Job Duties:
  • Uphold CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
  • Employ CECs mission statement in all decisions.
  • Complete all duties and responsibilities of the Kitchen Manager while participating in preparation, serving, cashiering, and sanitation tasks
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff
  • Manage inventory
  • Understand and follow all department revenue handling procedures
  • Oversee delegation of assignments and follow up to ensure all work is completed timely and efficient manner to meet labor budget requirements
  • Submit all food and non-food orders, payroll, attendance, production sheets, inventory, maintenance, and equipment requests correctly and on time
  • Understand and follow all HACCP mandates
  • Create scratch meals and implement quality assurance measures with all standardized recipes
  • Coordinate promotions to increase meal participation
  • Notify Food Services Manager of any personnel issues and maintain confidentiality
  • Stay current with all district and department communication, including voicemail and email
  • Attend manager meetings, as directed, and share all relevant information with kitchen staff in a timely manner
  • Participate in all required meetings, trainings, and development
  • Ensure all staff is trained as directed
  • Carry out all tasks and directives given by Food Services Manager
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School or GED Certificate preferred
  • 1 - 2 years of food management experience in a food production operation or commercial kitchen
  • Must hold or obtain a valid and current food handlers permit prior to first day of employment with CEC
