Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Manage the procedures of the 7th grade ACL class.
  2. Work with the Academic Assistant to order planners in the summer.
  3. Prepare/update all beginning of year documents/spreadsheets needed for the school year including Daily On-Task Log, Textbook Checkout form, Computer Usage Request form, Planner Instructions, Lab Expectations, etc. as found in the 8th grade study lab folder on Google Drive.
  4. Prepare the ACL classroom binder for use during the school year.
  5. Work with the Academic Assistant to gather books needed for theACL classroom.
  6. Keep an inventory of all books used in the ACL room.
  7. Conduct training in ACL periods for all 7th graders in the first week of school.  Explain planner set-up and all rules and expectations.
  8. Hold a Breakout Session for 7th grade parents to explain planners, rules, and expectations of ACL class.
  9. Serve as point person for coordinating any make-up work, tests, etc. for 7th grade students in labs during the school year.
  10. Weekly (Monday) print 7th grade Lesson Plans and Homework to update the classroom binder.  Also, print Textbook Checkout forms and Computer Usage forms as needed for the week for all lab classrooms.
  11. Meet with the SL Head as needed to communicate about ACL classes.

Qualifications

Required Personal Qualities

  1. Have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living.
  2. Be in whole-hearted agreement with Veritas Academy’s Statements on Faith, Life, and Conduct.
  3. Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and action toward others (Luke 6:40). This includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct.
  4. Be a Christian who is, and will remain during the period of employment, an active member of a Christ-centered church, growing in his/her Christian relationship with God, and actively practicing and exhibiting Christian principles of the Christian faith. 
  5. Be spiritually mature and consistently maintain a daily devotional and prayer life.
  6. Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that task.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in a one-on-one setting and in front of a group
  2. Ability to work well with others, skillfully navigating difficult interpersonal situations
  3. Proven ability to quickly and effectively find solutions to problems
  4. Strong multi-tasking skills while retaining a high quality of work
  5. Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and form solutions with little direction from supervisor

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. At least 1 year of teaching experience at Veritas Academy

 

Physical Demands

  1. Take CPR and first aid training and be willing and able to render such aid when necessary.
