Role:

The Family Support Manager leads the Family Support Team in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive services that promote optimal health, wellness, and academic success for families and communities. Reporting to the Family Support Case Management Supervisor at the Village Wellness Center (VWC), the role integrates case management, community engagement, and service quality assurance while ensuring specialists are equipped to deliver services aligned with organizational goals. This position also requires the manager to ensure the Family Support Specialists possess and apply advanced knowledge of Early Head Start, Head Start, and DFSS policies and rules to maintain compliance and effective service delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Team Leadership & Knowledge Management:

  • Supervise and mentor Family Support Specialists, ensuring they possess and maintain an intermediate or expert-level understanding of Early Head Start, Head Start, and DFSS policies and rules necessary for their roles.

  • Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to ensure specialists can deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed care in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

  • Host regular team meetings to review caseloads, discuss challenges, and reinforce compliance with policies and standards.

Case Management Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the Family Support Case Management Supervisor to oversee individualized case management services that link families to essential resources (e.g., health care, childcare, financial services).

  • Ensure specialists adhere to case management best practices, document progress effectively, and provide follow-through on family service plans.

Service Quality, Compliance & Policy Alignment:

  • Monitor, audit, and ensure compliance of student and family files with regulatory standards, including Early Head Start, Head Start, and DFSS policies.

  • Ensure that Family Support Specialists implement these policies accurately and consistently in their daily activities and interactions with families.

  • Develop and implement quality control measures to uphold the highest service standards across all team activities.

Community Engagement & Collaboration:

  • Foster and strengthen partnerships with organizations serving children from birth to 5 years old, ensuring families are connected to a wide range of resources.

  • Represent VWC as a community liaison, advocating for families and promoting the organization’s mission.

Parent & Family Engagement:

  • Oversee and support specialists in facilitating workshops, orientations, and educational programs for families, ensuring these align with both community needs and organizational objectives.

  • Encourage parent participation in program activities and gather feedback to drive continuous improvement in family engagement services.

Outreach & Recruitment:

  • Lead recruitment efforts for prospective students and families, ensuring alignment with VWC’s mission and engagement strategies

Professional Development:

  • Participate in regular training and development opportunities to strengthen leadership, case management, and culturally competent care skills.

  • Provide feedback and development plans for team members to enhance their skills and align with organizational needs.

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Education & Licensure:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work or counseling is preferred; a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with significant experience in family support services and management (minimum of 5 years, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role) may be considered.

  • Current licensure (LCSW, LCPC) is highly preferred, or a willingness to pursue licensure within an agreed-upon timeframe.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in family support services, case management, and community engagement.

  • At least 3 years of experience managing and leading teams, with proven success in training and mentoring staff.

  • Demonstrated experience administering behavioral health assessment tools—including IM+CANS, CANS, PHQ-9, GAD-7, C-SSRS, and ACEs—and using results to inform service planning and documentation.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience implementing and ensuring compliance with Early Head Start, Head Start, and DFSS policies within a family support or case management setting..

Skills:

 

  • Deep knowledge of Early Head Start, Head Start, and DFSS policies, with the ability to translate regulations into clear, actionable strategies for team implementation.

  • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills to guide teams and ensure operational excellence.

  • Strong commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and client-centered care that honors the identities and experiences of diverse communities.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving needs, manage multiple priorities, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
