Job Description

Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our Settlement Team supporting the firm’s Fire Practice Group. In this role, you will help guide cases through the settlement process, ensure compliance with state and court requirements, and play a key part in helping clients receive the compensation they deserve.

This position is essential to ensuring our clients receive justice after devastating losses. You’ll work closely with attorneys, staff, and clients to move cases efficiently through settlement, streamline processes, and help resolve complex matters with accuracy and empathy.


SALARY: $125,000-$175,000 annually  Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist in managing the firm’s Fire Practice settlement teams, including supervising and mentoring attorneys, paralegals, and support staff across various levels. 

  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as settlement agreements, releases, minor’s compromises, and other court filings, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and firm standards. 

  • Help manage and monitor compliance with the implementation of settlement terms, including disbursement procedures, deadlines and fulfillment of contractual obligations. 

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with state-specific laws, court procedures, and professional rules of responsibility, particularly regarding the distribution of settlement funds. 

  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy, settlement negotiations, client issues, and procedural compliance. 

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow optimization, and the integration of innovative legal technologies. 

  • Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients to explain legal processes, settlement timelines, and case updates.
     

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school 

  • Active license to practice law in California.  

  • 5+ years of experience in litigation.  

  • Management experience preferred, but not required. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe; familiarity with E-Discovery and law tools such as ShareFile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, Lexis, Filevine, Everlaw, Smart Advocate, and related legal technologies.

  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and capable of managing multiple time-critical projects under tight deadlines.

  • This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
