Position Summary


Red Cat Holdings is seeking a full-time Trade Compliance Specialist - Remote to help keep our cross-border movements accurate, fast, and fully compliant. You’ll classify hardware/software/tech data, manage licenses and exceptions, support shipments and filings, maintain auditable records, and partner with Logistics, Engineering, Sales Ops, Programs, and Legal to prevent issues before they start. This role reports to the Director, Global Trade & Logistics and supports multiple divisions (e.g., Teal Drones, FlightWave, Blue Ops) as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Classification & Master Data: Determine ECCN/USML/HTS   for products, subassemblies, software/firmware, and technical data; maintain a revision-controlled master classification database in alignment with PLM.
  • Screening: Perform and document restricted party/end-use/end-user screening; escalate and disposition potential hits with clear, auditable notes.
  • Licensing & Exceptions: Draft/track BIS SNAP-R and DDTC DECCS filings (e.g., DSP-5, TAA/MLA support) ; evaluate and apply EAR license exceptions and ITAR exemptions when appropriate; monitor provisos/conditions.
  • Shipments & Filings: Coordinate EEI/AES filings, commercial invoices/packing lists, customs value/origin/FTZ where applicable; support demos/returns (e.g., 9801), tradeshow moves, and RMA flows.
  • Technology Control: Support Technology Control Plans (TCPs), visitor controls, data segregation, and need-to-know access to export-controlled data; help manage non-US person workflows.
  • Training & SOPs: Create concise SOPs/quick guides; deliver targeted training to shipping, sales, engineering, and program teams.
  • Audits & Monitoring: Conduct internal reviews and spot checks; coordinate corrective actions; maintain records per 15 CFR 762 and ITAR requirements.
  • Change Coordination: Work with Engineering/PLM and Supply Chain when BoM or configuration changes affect classification, licensing, or country-of-origin.
  • Issue Resolution: Triage carrier/CBP/forwarder holds and government inquiries; drive timely, documented resolution.
  • Continuous Improvement: Help mature workflows and automations across ERP/PLM/screening tools (e.g., SAP/Arena, ACE, Trabex/KYG, SharePoint/Power Automate).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications


  • 3+  years in export/trade compliance within aerospace/defense, electronics, or similar regulated hardware/software environment.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, OFAC; able to translate regs into practical steps.
  • Hands-on experience with AES/ACE, SNAP-R, DECCS, and audit-ready recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrated classification proficiency (ECCN/USML/HTS) for UAVs, sensors, software/firmware, and components.
  • Experience supporting shipment documentation (commercial invoice, packing list, Incoterms, valuation/origin) with Logistics/Shipping.
  • Strong documentation habits; Excel/SharePoint proficiency; comfort with ERP/PLM data.

Additional Desired Qualifications


  • Exposure to TAAs/MLAs, proviso management, and proviso compliance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with CMMC 2.0 concepts and secure data handling.
  • Tools: SAP (Business One or S/4), Arena PLM, Trabex/KYG, Workseer or similar screening; Power Automate/SharePoint.
  • Broker/carrier coordination (FedEx/DHL/Expeditors) and tradeshow/demonstration logistics.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions


  • Prolonged periods working on a computer; occasional walking/standing in office/production areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally; standard PPE is required when visiting production or test areas.
  • Occasional after-hours work to meet filing/shipping timelines.
