We are hiring for an Accounting Principles Director to join our National Practice A&A team. The Accounting Principles Director is responsible for providing technical guidance on complex accounting matters to Partners and professional employees as an augmented member of the Assurance Engagement team. The professional in this role may also support clients in an accounting advisory role and clients of CCA’s BPO Advisory practice. The individual in this role ensures that accounting principles are appropriately applied to financial statements. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining quality and accuracy of financial information for clients and ensuring accounting principles and other applicable regulatory requirements are appropriately applied to financial statements and other information accompanying the financial statements. The role reports to the Accounting Principles Partner and is supported by the National Assurance Professional Practice Leader. A successful candidate will be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This position has the option to be fully remote or sit in any of our U.S. locations.
Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Provide technical guidance on complex accounting matters to assurance Partners and professional employees.
- Provide external clients technical, accounting service offerings on complex accounting issues, financial reporting, and transactions to assist clients with making informed decisions.
- Review consultations prepared by engagement teams.
- Review financial statements and disclosures related to engagement matters to ensure compliance with accounting standards and firm policies.
- Collaborate with Partners, Directors, Managers and other professionals within the firm to deliver guidance to clients and assist with understanding the transaction related accounting implications.
- Conduct in-depth research on accounting topics and prepare technical memos on the application of accounting principles to specified transactions.
- Stay up to date with evolving accounting standards and regulatory changes through active monitoring of standard setters’ technical projects.
- Deliver quarterly updates to the Attest Practice on GAAP updates and prepare summaries of new accounting standards and their application.
- Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to develop and deliver training courses that elevate the technical skills of the firm’s professional staff, as well as client accounting and finance professionals.
- Collaborate with firm marketing resources to develop thought leadership on technical topics – Be market facing as a firm representative in the development of practice aids, alerts, and guides.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as the trusted advisor for their accounting needs.
