SUMMARY

The Controls & Automation Integrator (Robotic System Integrator) contributes significantly to the development, commissioning, and support of our automated systems. This role involves programming and commissioning control systems, following integration best practices, providing technical support, and troubleshooting. Technical knowledge, versatility, adaptability, an eagerness to learn, and exceptional customer service are essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Implement intuitive HMIs to facilitate machine understanding, control, and troubleshooting
  • Contribute toward developing standard protocols, methods, and processes for software integration
  • A strong client-focused approach, dedicated to providing exceptional client experiences to our internal and external customers
  • Embrace continuous improvement by developing and learning new skills to stay updated with technological advancements
  • Participate in design reviews, control logic and programming reviews, and contribute to factory acceptance and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT)
  • Testing and integration of hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers across multiple sites and projects
  • Ensure systems are integrated according to best practices and defined standard operating procedures
  • Optimize robot motion and workflows for efficiency and consistency
  • Attend to and resolve support and site escalations, which may include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues
  • Experience commissioning at customer sites including testing and debugging of systems
  • Participate in training of customer staff in the operation of integrated systems, including on-site operator support in the early days of the system going live
  • Demonstrate strong situational judgment and sound decision-making
  • Liaise with customers to ensure workflow requirements are fully understood and documented

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Controls/Automation or Engineering field: 1+ year of automation/controls development and implementation experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer requirements and specifications. Ability to write reports and programs, and to effectively present information to customers and company management.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Excellent technical, financial, organizational, and "process flow" analytical ability.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team
  • Experience in agile development methodologies is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of a wide range of technical methods, principles, and practices
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Bosch), SCADA (Rockwell), HMIs (Rockwell/Siemens), VFDs, servos, and network design
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with control measures and electrical safety designs based on hazard analysis
  • Experience in robotic applications with major brands (Fanuc, KUKA, Kawasaki) and their programming
  • Ability to work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide complete automation systems

TRAVEL

Must be willing and able to travel approximately 30- 50% domestically. International travel might be required. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Excellent driving skills and clean driving record are required.
