E-Commerce Content Specialist

Scope

This position concepts and creates original, compelling content to increase consumer engagement with AMU publishing products sold on e-commerce retail sites, ultimately driving sales through these digital channels. The position reports to the VP of publishing sales and works collaboratively with the editorial, sales, marketing and Creative Services teams.  The position is also guided by and takes creative direction from the Creative Services Director to ensure consistent expression and execution of AMU creators’ brands and products.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Concept, write, and create assets that enhance consumer experience and conversion when shopping AMU products on e-commerce retail sites, namely A+ Content on Amazon. This includes writing product descriptions to be optimized for the e-commerce sales channel.
  • Build a deep understanding of what drives customer engagement on each channel, sharing and applying best practices.
  • Ensure integration and consistent brand expression with all social media, marketing, and sales touch points.
  • Ability to conceptualize and create assets based on existed retailer templates and messaging strategies.
  • Learn and share new trends, best practices, and advancements in digital product merchandising and ecommerce.
  • Monitor the competition on key digital channels and report relevant trends and activity.
  • Produce distinctive graphics through multiple forms of media, following creator and licensor brand standards.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Exceptional copywriting for different consumer audiences
  • A solid understanding of metadata and keyword best practices
  • Ability to translate/communicate the features, benefits, and key selling points of a product through thoughtful writing and visual assets
  • Ability to conceptualize and design creative assets based on strategic sales goals and marketing messaging while maintaining the essence and consistent expression of the brand or license.
  • A solid understanding of user interface principles with a sensitivity to typography and color
  • Working knowledge of best practice standards for digital, mobile and print
  • Ability to manage time wisely across projects and competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong visual aesthetic
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present ideas clearly
  • Video and photography (product and lifestyle) skills a plus
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new and emerging relevant technologies and applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) in Graphic Design or Strategic Communication/Advertising related field
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills
  • 3+ years experience on design team with roles in one or more of the following areas: graphic/visual design or web design
  • Expertise in relevant design software: Adobe Creative Suite with focus on Photoshop, InDesign
  • Must be proficient and familiar with standards for print and file formats and optimizing graphics for the Web
  • Experience with Amazons Vendor or Seller Central platform a plus
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite
