Description

Comunilife Inc. is looking to fill a Program Coordinator position for its Life is Precious, Long Island, NY location. The Program Coordinator for Life is Precious™ is a non-clinical suicide prevention afterschool alternative program for Latina teens ages 12-17. Responsible for directing the overall operations of Comunilife Life Is Precious Program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to management, planning, program development, implementation, monitoring and budgeting. The Program Coordinator will perform evaluations and maintain Comunilife policies and procedures, quality assurance, utilization review and outreach activities. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Sr. Vice President of Programs to assure quality psychiatric and psychosocial assessments are conducted prior to referral to the Life Is Precious Program.  This position offers a generous benefit package including health insurance, dental, vision, dependent care, paid time off, 401(k), tuition assistance program and more.  

 

Essential Duties:

  • Assume responsibility for the continuous direction and day-to-day operations of the Life is Precious Program.

  • Provide supervisory conferences with program staff and maintain relevant documentation.

  • Supervise all program activities and scheduling to be implemented by Case Managers and Creative Art Therapist consultant.

  • Ability to think outside of the box with creating programs that stimulate the interest and are relative as well as age appropriate for young adults.

  • Ensure that a system of reporting is used in assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of the program staff.

  • Ensure that all program participants are receiving mental health services.

  • Ensure that the staff receives all the necessary support via workshops regarding the management of grief while maintaining professional focus. Ensure staff education and training in muliti-cultural, clinical and other issues relevant to the programs’ focus.

  • Triage referrals and patient assignments to staff; monitor quality of clinical service and maximize number of individuals served, maintain high level of group therapy.

  • Track outcome studies. Monitor patient satisfaction surveys are completed at time of termination.

  • Collaborate with various community agencies, public officials, and organizations.

  • Supervise all recruitment efforts and ensure timely completion of all staff performance evaluations.

  • Meet on a regular basis with the Vice President of Programs to discuss accomplishments and administrative matters.

  • Represent the program at community providers (i.e. schools, churches and community centers) relevant to the program focus and populations.

  • Plan, organize and supervise all program and family oriented activities; in addition the Coordinator is responsible for all intake and family engagement.

  • Manage volunteers/tutors

  • Document community activities, outings and development involving families

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirement(s)

Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology is required; LCAT preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical supervisory and administrative experience. Clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults. Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.
