The Director of Marketing and Business Development serves as a strategic partner, supporting the Firm's attorneys by developing and executing strategic marketing and business development initiatives. Engaging with Partners throughout the Firm, the Director of Marketing and Business Development will harness the unique ambitions of each Partner, each practice group, and the Firm as a whole, and translate that into actionable solutions for the success of the Firm. The Director of Marketing and Business Development will oversee a team of talented marketing and business development professionals and leverage their talent to enhance the Firm's image and client relations, contributing to the Firm's culture of excellence that enables everyone at JMBM to do their best work.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•             Engage with department heads and their respective practice groups to design strategies that will enhance marketing efforts and further develop existing client relationships.

•             Harness your relationship-building skills to liaise between practice groups and marketing professionals in an effort to align marketing and business development initiatives with practice leadership goals.

•             Utilize your project management skills to coordinate marketing and business development initiatives, including the creation of marketing collateral and pitch material, and life cycle management of events, webinars, and other content rich programming.

•             Conduct market and client research by harnessing the power of technology to develop data-driven recommendations.

•             Network with peer groups to augment your resources and provide insight into the latest developments in the legal industry's marketing and business development community.

•             Explore new technology trends to enhance Marketing Department deliverables.

•             Act as a Firm ambassador for generative artificial intelligence, promoting the use of AI technology in various administrative areas of the Firm as it relates to marketing and business development.

•             Manage the Marketing Department's annual budget to ensure proper resources are available for marketing and business development initiatives while meeting the Firm's financial goals.

•             Contribute to the Firm's diversity and inclusion efforts by identifying areas for enhancement and proposing initiatives that both enrich the Firm's culture, boosts the Firm's recruiting efforts, and comply with client requirements.

Marketing Focused Essential Duties

•             Employ creativity and originality in developing marketing campaigns to communicate Firm achievements and other relevant developments to enhance the Firm's brand/image.

•             Apply your intuition and resourcefulness to find innovative and creative ways to tell the Firm's story and define its expertise in its practice areas.

•             Collaborate with marketing professionals and department/practice leadership to analyze marketing strategies using market insights, data, trends, and competitive intelligence.

•             Draw on your industry expertise and stay abreast of industry news to educate partners and practice groups of lead-generation opportunities.

Business Development Focused Essential Duties

•             Partner with local associations and specialists in media relations and events to ensure all avenues of outreach are evaluated and presented to attorneys and Firm management.

•             Foster intra-Firm and cross-departmental collaboration between Partners by connecting practice group initiatives and promoting internal events that provide attorneys with a platform to highlight their practice area expertise.

•             Collaborate with attorneys and the Firm's Client Relations Manager to create and execute business development plans.

•             Enhance lateral partner integration efforts by assisting with cross-departmental networking and client development initiatives.

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

•             Bachelor's degree required. MBA or similar master's degree preferred.

•             Minimum of ten years' experience in the field of marketing or business development required.

 

Position: Exempt

Location: 5 days onsite until 90-day probation, then Hybrid (Century City). 

Salary: $200k - $225k base plus excellent package on offer including insurance and performance-related bonuses. The base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors.
