JOB DESCRIPTION
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
General Description: This position reports to the school principal. The substitute teacher follows the classroom teacher’s lesson plans and maintains oversight of his or her students.

Duties and Responsibilities
Spiritual
-
Models a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ in speech, actions, attitudes

Actively involved in church

Follows Matthew 18 principle in dealing with interpersonal conflict

Encourages students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith
General
-
Takes attendance each hour
-
Follows teacher lesson plans to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students

Monitors student behavior in and out of the classroom, including in the hallways, break areas, and cafeteria

Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
-
Fulfills any teacher duties (break duty, lunch duty, etc.)

Document any student issues and leaves notes on engagement and behavior
-
Interacts with students and staff to maintain order and provide assistance when needed

Maintains confidentiality with all school and student information
