Description

We are currently seeking a Physical Therapist who is interested in a unique opportunity at our hospital. This position offers a dual role, where the individual will not only screen, treat, and develop treatment plans for our Student Athletes but also collaborate with a new sports orthopedic Dr group from Utah. This group will provide training on the latest screening and treatment techniques, and together with the PT, they will manage sports injury conditions.

Job Responsibilities:

Provides professional physical therapist services in a rural hospital setting including acute care, outpatients, and geriatric care following guidelines as described in the Physical Therapy Practice Act.

Provides assessment and evaluation to appropriate individuals as outlined in the Physical Therapy Practice Act.

  1. Administer and interpret tests and measurements to identify areas of services.
  2. Develops a plan of treatment consistent with the evaluation.  This must include a treatment schedule including frequency and duration and type of treatment.
  3. Documents evaluation within 24 hours of the initial visit.
  4. Communicates in a timely manner with all concerned parties within the limits of patient confidentiality.

           

Provides purposeful activity and interventions to appropriate individual consistent with the Plan of Care.

  1. Employs appropriate activity and interventions.
  2. Changes and updates the Treatment Plan as determined by the individual's progress.
  3. Documents daily on each treatment.
  4. Assists office personnel with scheduling, evaluations and treatments to ensure patient compliance and treatment consistency.
  5. Charges for each treatment daily that is consistent with treatment documentation.
  6. Determines appropriate time to discharge individuals from Physical Therapy services.
  7. Reviews patient logs on a monthly basis to ensure appropriate discharge.

 

Participates as an active member of the Rehab Department.

  1. Attends department meetings.
  2. Assists in development of new programs.
  3. Assists in providing public education programs.
  4. Assists the office personnel with answering phones and making appointments as necessary.
  5. Works cooperatively with other department therapist(s) to share supervisory roles.

 

Promotes safe work habits.

  1. Practices Standard Precautions; i.e. good handwashing and use of gloves when in contact with bodily substances.
  2. Cleans whirlpool and other equipment in contact with bodily substances.
  3. Reports malfunctioning equipment.
  4. Utilizes correct body mechanics and assistive devices for all lifting, transfers and ambulation training.

 

Maintain a positive work environment throughout communications to problem solving.

  1. Communicates in an understanding and diplomatic way with family, peers and supervisors.
  2. Problem solves by pursuing proper chain of command.
  3. Evaluates suggestions and criticism objectively and understands measures to change behavior or utilize resources when appropriate.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Current Idaho Physical Therapy license.
  • Current BLS or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire
