Position Objective:

 

The Kitchen Cook is responsible for preparing high quality and nutritious meals in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

General Qualifications 

 

Ministerial Support staff who serve in operational and service support roles are not required to affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, they are expected in the course of their employment to respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Ministerial Support staff join into our community life of prayer, worship and spiritual activity, including but not limited to staff meetings, attendance at programs, Bible Study, and staff gatherings. 

 

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

 

  • Assist managers/ Supervisors prepare meals by specified mealtime deadlines.
  • Ability to lead a shift in the absence of a supervisor and perform opening and closing duties.
  • Follow directions to ensure consistency in flavor, quality & quantity of each meal prepared.
  • Always adhere to best practices and follow supervisor’s direction to prevent and limit waste.
  • Follow all safe food handling practices.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High School Grad or equivalent.

 

Work Experience:

 

  • Minimum one year of food service experience.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to work without constant supervision.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to remain calm in a high-energy kitchen setting.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and move around most of the workday.
  • Ability to use a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils, including sharp objects.

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening closing shifts and weekends. This includes most national holidays.
  • Willing to follow guidelines on blackout dates during the peak season for personal time off.
  • Ability to obtain a California food handlers card.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
