Job Summary:

The paraprofessional provides one-on-one behavior modification for children diagnosed with autism using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one with child, implementing individual lessons and behavior intervention plans as specified by the behavior consultant.
  • Monitor progress by accurately recording each session and providing notes as indicated by behavior consultant on designated data sheets.
  • Know and understand the specific goals and behavior plans of each client.
  • Implementation of each individual lesson (specific SD or instruction, the exact target response that the child must display, the specific prompt level anticipated before giving the SD, and the appropriate amount/type of the consequence for the target response).
  • Communication with behavior consultant for questions on lesson implementation or progression, training needs, problems with child's progression, behavior excesses, etc.
  • Some clients require in-home services on a regular basis; other clients receiving center based services require monthly in-home visits in addition to their time at the center. Center based paraprofessionals are expected to provide therapy in the childs home as directed by their supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 18 years or older.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working with children, preferably in related field, within the past 5 years.
  • Education equivalent to a High School Diploma or higher. Enrollment or completion of bachelor degree in a related field (Behavior Analysis, Education, Psychology, Human Services, Speech Pathology) and knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred.
  • Ability to run independently and repeatedly, stand, sit, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, push and lift a child weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Reliable means of transportation.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
  • Have access to a computer or smart phone that allows you to read and respond to e-mail as well as complete online billing and timekeeping daily.
  • Pass criminal background check.
  • Provide documentation of current immunization including a negative TB test from the last 3 years.
