Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity and respect.

RNP strives to provide a continuum of care for our clients, meeting the client where they are at in recovery, addiction or improving their mental health. We provide care for adults 18 and over. Our services span from detox to medicated assisted treatment, residential program, housing, intensive outpatient programs and career resources. With over 26 programs, with our two largest being medicated assisted treatment programs, RNP serves over 3,000 clients per day.

 

SUMMARY  

The Chief Medical Officer must be a board-certified psychiatrist with a strong background in addiction with the ability to prescribe and medically monitor substance use and mental health medications for adults in the State of CT. The CMO will work under the administrative supervision of the Chief Executive Officer to diagnose and treat clients with mental health and substance use disorders in a timely fashion, showing care, concern, dignity and respect to those served by Recovery Network of Programs.

 

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm (flexibility and on-call hours as needed)

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Elevate clinical care and patient outcomes by conducting research and facilitating training and education programs.
  • Oversee all medical services of the agency and ensure that clients receive the highest standard of care in RNP Programs.
  • Recruit, mentor and supervise psychiatric APRN’s, PA’s, MD’s and ambulatory detox nursing staff. Provide performance feedback, education, and training while keeping staff updated on new healthcare regulations.  
  • Administrative responsibilities include but are not limited to staff meetings, medical policy review and clinical case reviews with clinicians and healthcare staff.
  • Act as liaison between the administration and medical staff.
  • Performs physicals when needed to determine appropriateness for admission.
  • Orders laboratory tests and evaluates data obtained.
  • Prescribes medication and routinely reviews client dosage levels.
  • Advises clients methods for prevention of disease.
  • Refers clients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
  • Reviews client medical records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides medication education for individual clients, staff and families as necessary.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, providing consultation for clinical staff.
  • Completes clinical and medical documentation for individual client records.
  • Adheres to all documentation and reporting requirements required by RNP to meet all regulatory standards.
  • Medical Director will have final decision regarding any and all medical care given to clients by the Director or Psychiatric, APRNs or PA’s working for RNP.
  • Attends and provides education and presentations- State and National
  • Responsible for supporting productivity and utilization goals.

CORE COMPETENCIES 

Board certified adult psychiatrist with a valid State of Connecticut medical license and controlled substance license. Must have a strong background in addiction with the ability to prescribe and medically monitor substance use and mental health medications.

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with substance abuse, mental health, co-occurring disorders and HIV/AIDS populations.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role within a similar organization required.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships and project a professional image.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills required.
  • Expertise in behavioral health, substance use and medication assistance treatment.
  • Understanding and knowledge of all relevant regulations and funding requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
